The XGIMI Elfin Flip is a decent portable projector with some notable strengths and a few drawbacks. On the positive side, its compact size and lightweight design make it highly portable and easy to set up anywhere. The built-in 150-degree stand is a handy feature, allowing for flexible positioning without needing additional equipment. The projector also offers a good range of smart features, including certified Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video, which is great for streaming.
However, there are some areas where the Elfin Flip falls short. The brightness, rated at 400 ISO Lumens, is adequate for dark rooms but struggles in well-lit environments. Additionally, while the color accuracy is decent, it doesn't quite match up to higher-end models, and the HDR performance is somewhat underwhelming. The lack of a built-in battery means you always need a power outlet, which can limit its portability. Unfortunately, the included app store is very limited and is missing key apps like YouTube TV, which can be a significant drawback for some users. Moreover, the XGIMI OS is locked and does not allow the sideloading of apps, which is unfortunate as competitors in this space include these options.
Overall, the XGIMI Elfin Flip is a solid choice for casual viewing and portability, but it may not satisfy those looking for top-tier image quality and brightness.
This projector is made to be a portable entertainment center. It is easy to set up and has every feature you need, including decent audio for a portable projector, battery power for camping use, a good remote, and built-in Google TV which is exactly the same as the software on my standalone Chromecast with Google TV. It is plenty bright, and far than lower priced projectors I have seen.
My favorite feature is the automatic screen adjustment process. It is very simple to use, and can turn offset projection angles into a near-perfect image. I projected it onto my white garage door at various angles, and it looked great; no keystoning in either the horizontal or vertical axis.
Wi-Fi was also very good. I used it outside my house which has aluminum siding so the Wi-Fi signal tends to be weak. This locked in on it and I was able to stream Netflix, Amazon Prome, and YouTube without issue.
Inside, it was very good, even without a projection screen — I used a painted wall which distorted the color but was watchable, and white sheet, which was great (I will be picking up a portable projection screen). I don’t know that this will satisfy the pickiest home-theater aficionados, but in a room with somewhat controlled brightness it really works well. It is exactly what IU was looking for, and if you want portability, lots of features, and a table-top mount, this projector is hard to beat.

I've gone through quite a few projectors recently, and after trying the Elfin Flip, I'm honestly impressed. To be honest I knew this Xgimi brand for a while and wanted to try on one of their products, but since I had my Epson 4k projector and having good time with it so far, I have to pass Xgimi 4K ones. But here I found their entry-level product, with a very reasonable price. I've always been a huge fan of watching movies or shows on a big screen, so my TVs don't see much use anymore. The Elfin Flip is no exception—it's been a great addition for my bedroom viewing.
When it comes to projectors, I usually look for three things: picture quality, connectivity, and build. Of course, price matters too, but the Elfin Flip does a great job balancing all of these aspects. The 1080P resolution is solid, and best suited for darker environments, though—it really shines in the evening or indoors, but struggle in bright daylight.
In terms of connectivity, it's a smart one, with Xgimi os, got built-in wifi and bluetooth, which works smoothly. But to stream your favorite shows, you better need something like a fire stick or chromecast, and that's been my go-to setup. It works seamlessly as long as your internet is stable. I haven't tried connecting it directly via USB or to my phone yet, but those options are available as well.
The sound quality is another highlight. The built-in speakers deliver clear audio, so unless you're looking for cinema-like sound, you won't need external speakers.
Build-wise, the Elfin flip feels like a sleek and modern one. I love that it's compact, making it easy to carry around.
